Immediate safety considerations

Always trust your judgment: you know your situation best

Try to avoid rooms without exits or where there are weapons

If you don’t know where you are, try to take note of nearby landmarks, street signs or the routes you travel

If possible, have your ID, bank cards and cash in a place where you can grab them if you have to exit your situation quickly

If you are being attacked or assaulted, focus on protecting your head, neck and abdomen
